our direction

Welcome back.  Boy the time does fly!!  It’s already the end of April and we are still experiencing great and amazing things in our lives.  We are living more and more into the Law of Attraction and I love the thought of sharing this journey with all of you.

Keep the feedback coming, we truly appreciate all the comments and stories.  We have been fortunate to surround ourselves with an incredible network.  Thank you for sharing your light with the world.

Now, I said last week I would share with you what happened at our first Mastermind group with the Quantum Leap members, but first I need to mention what Dale and I do from a business stand point for any of this to make sense.  Therefore, I am going to share with our readers next week what happened at the first Mastermind group meeting at our house on the 9th of January 2010.  Today I am going to catch you up on our businesses as I have promised to share this with all of you at the very beginning.

You already know about some of VSI through the last few weeks of posts.  We have an experiential training division that works with fears and anxiety around all areas of life.  And we have a technical training division that focuses on education in embedded operating systems, specifically Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0 training.  That’s what I do.  Dale, my husband, runs our retirement company that takes mansions and turns them into retirement community style living in luxury.  You can read more about it here: www.aspeninvestgroup.com. It’s an amazing company taking a holistic approach to retirement.

At this time in our lives we had these two business defined, Aspen completely defined and VSI was coming into focus more and more, just not in the way I had imagined.  More on that in two weeks (the forming of VSI).  What an amazing journey it is to birth something new.  Through our coaching only have we set up the structure to be a success in our field of genius.  We are so grateful for the amazing mentors we have had in our life.  We share what we have learned through our unique gifts and coaching style in our one on one coaching that we offer.  Contact us at www.valsorter.com for more information and pricing. (mention this blog for a special rate)

Since we had started walking through a business plan in a company that we were forming with some friends, we started the same process with Aspen Investment Group.  We knew we had a lot of work to do, but we believed in it and knew we would be helping people in a big way, filling a need in society and making a larger difference.  This would be the creation of our legacy.  We wanted to create within our company a retirement our parents would enjoy as well as a retirement we could look forward to.

After putting together a 3 page proposal for people to look at we decided to show it to our first ‘real’ person.  Before this we had showed it to two people and it was purely on a ‘what are we missing’ standpoint.

Dale went to someone he had known through sprinklers and felt like he needed to share it with him.  I was so very excited.  Dale at this point had really started to show excitement around what we were doing.  He was finally on board and we are moving faster then we ever could imagine.

I have to explain briefly that Dale has always been amazingly supportive of me.  And I do need to emphasize the ‘me’ portion of that.  He’s never really approved of the vehicle, but he always supported me in knowing I could do it if I wanted to.

We had been to NWA and everyone we told about what we were doing had such great feedback for us.  We met so many people that recognized the need also and wanted to hear about it and find out more.  We were blown away by the positive response to our new venture and looked forward to sharing it with more people.  We got some great contacts and already talked to people that wanted to invest.

Here’s the weirdest part, I’d never talked to people about investing money like that before and crazy enough, I really still haven’t.  People would tell us they were interested long before we even got to the point of saying we were looking for investors.  We were overwhelmed at the response and I felt we were ready for that move, I knew we needed to learn more about the basics and quickly.  I then asked ‘how do we learn what we need to know and verify what we have already learned as soon as possible?

So Dale went to Boulder and met with John.  John has over 30 years of experience in real estate and works for a prestigious firm and is managing partner of it in the Boulder area.  He’s a successful guy, needless to say, and Dale thought very highly of him.  Keep in mind Dale is going to John to ask him for some feedback on the idea.  He is the first ‘real’ person we had shown the idea to.  Dale got two sentences into his presentation and John threw his hands in the air and said ‘I’m in!’.

Dale and I are still amazed by that day, what happened and where we have come as a result.  That conversation brought two amazing mentors into our lives.  They introduced us to a spiritual path that I have been searching for my whole life and they have guided us on some very important business decisions that have saved our family in so many ways.  I’ll share more about that in two weeks in the founding of VSI.

Needless to say I firmly believe that great coaching is what is needed to be successful.  I journaled about this back in August of 2009.  It’s amazing how far we have come in such a short period of time.  We are still only just beginning to understand our true power.  John and his wife introduced us to Mile Hi church at this time as well.  We attended our first service there on January 6th.  I had just met the both of them and I loved them!  What great people, what amaingly supportive and incredibly nurturing beings that just want the best for us.

John calls me disarming and loves my passion.  I have enjoyed getting his feedback on what we are doing and having someone to ask guidance and questions about life.  It’s nice to ask those that have a life that is more like the one you would like to have.  John has it together and he is willing, for whatever reason, to help us climb the ladder of success.  It’s such an amazing journey.

More next week on our Mastermind Group, how we attracted the people in our lives that we needed to help us in the areas we asked.

Until then, love and light.

Releasing Fear – Part II

Last week I wrote about fear and let you know that this series was going to talk about my personal struggle with fear, what I have learned in the hopes that you can learn from what I did and that it helps you break through your fear and anxiety.

I also introduced you to a few tools that were available on m website to help you release your fear and anxiety around any aspect of your life, from business, sales, career, relationships, etc. If you missed it, those tools are available on our website at www.valsorter.com.

Now as for where we left off. I was telling you about the two year old that came into my life with the answer to ‘what question to ask’ myself to peel back the layers of the impostor living inside of me. Now keep in mind, by impostor I mean that person in me that was not truly me, not supportive of my success and not helpful in building a great life for me or my family, and especially not willing to grow and get better, the part of me that holds me back and doesn’t let my true genius come through. I believe we all have an impostor living in us, and some of us have many impostors inside us…

Now, this two year old, like I mentioned, was very wise with their question. So I asked myself that very good question, the question a 2 year old asks. And it is the hardest question in the world to answer sometimes. The question prompted me to keep digging, to pull off the layers of the impostor I had built up in my head to protect my heart from a pain that happened many years ago around food. The question was so powerful that it eventually brought me back to a time in my life when I was about 13 years old.

When I was 13, I lived in Arizona and we were very poor. My mom and dad had recently separated and my mom had taken us and we left. We grabbed everything we could from the house and that would fit into our van and we were gone. We drove and drove and ended up in a little desert town that we called home for the next four years. We were 4 early teens with a single mom and we were all we had. Now, don’t get me wrong we had some tough times; but my mom did the best she could and I am so grateful for her tremendous strength and her incredible love. For without those two things, none of us would have made it. We held each other up in those first few years. We were lost and had our entire foundation ripped out from under us. We didn’t understand, as children, what was happening. We just knew that dad was gone and we went from having everything we ever needed to having nothing.

All four of us kids found jobs doing anything we could to help. At one point most of us worked at Pizza Hut. It was a great place to work at that time in our lives. We were grateful for all of it and to be able to help ease the burden on mom. They would give us the pizzas they messed up during the dinner rush to take home so we had extra food. One memory of mine from that time is of opening the fridge to find a stack of pizza hut boxes and nothing else in the fridge. I couldn’t stand the smell of pizza, let alone eat it for about 10 years after that period of our lives. Needless to say, we had a lot of pizza. So we learned a valuable lesson – working at food establishments was an easy way to get extra food. Back then almost all of them, if you worked a full shift, gave you a free meal. I worked at restaurants until a few years into college as a result of learning that lesson.

I remember one time, it was a particularly bad day or week and my mom was upset. She was often upset and tried to hide it, we always tried to cheer her up – sometimes it worked, sometimes it couldn’t be done for any of us. And sometimes, the days were just so dark you didn’t think it would ever end and you wondered why or what you did for your dad not to care about you anymore and to just leave you and not care that you were hurting so bad. This day I remember being hungry and there not being any food in the house. This happened sometimes, or the food was old and the cheese moldy – we had to cut the moldy pieces off and eat the rest – so gross…. They tell you, the flavor is just in that piece of cheese that you cut off, but they are wrong – nasty stuff. I was really hungry but didn’t want to tell my mom because it would upset her more. So I went hungry and I didn’t say a word.

When I kept asking myself the question of ‘why’ did I feel this way about food, I went back to that time in my life and discovered that memory.

Next week I will share with you more about the memory itself, what I did to get past it and how it has helped me in other areas as well. I look forward to sharing my journey with you, please feel free to leave comments and share you journey as well. I’ve found this is a great part of the healing process and we are here to support and love each other through this amazing journey. Know that you are not alone and I will always be here to listen and give support and encouragement to all the amazing people out there.

The key to it all – for me

Hello again and welcome back.

Once again I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my blog and allowing me to share my journey with you.  I would love to hear your feedback and your experience with the Law of Attraction as well, please let me know what you are thinking.  This is an amazing journey and I am so new to it.  My hope is that my experience helps others grow in their true self and reach the level of success they truly deserve and desire.

The key to it all, for me, was the roots of what I was doing.  Harv talks about it in his book, I learned about it at MMI.  Get with us at www.valsorter.com in our experiential learning division we can get you the book and free tickets to an MMI in your area, it’s worth it!  You really must attend.  And download our free audio to get started.  So, like I was saying the roots.

I have done things most of my life as a result of ‘proving’ someone wrong.  I have learned now that this is one of the bad roots.  We spend so much time trying to fix the apple (metaphorically speaking) and no time looking at the roots of the tree, at a time when the apple was perfect for shaping. I learned that a simple change to love and joy and peace can make all the difference in the world.

I used to sabatage myself.  I would hit my internal glass ceiling and everything would crumble.  I could be on top of it all, with everything going for me and the next day just flat on the ground again because of something stupid I did.  I couldn’t control it, so much seemed out of my control.

And then I learned about the roots and the fruits.  Something so small can be so foundational and so important.  I learned that when doing things for the wrong reason I could only ever reach a certain level of success.  More recently I have come to understand I can not move my spirit through fear and intimidation.  I can move it for a little while, but when moved like that our spirit starts to fight back and we start to resist.  And no matter what we do we will end up sabataging ourselves because of it.  Gosh, my life has played out like this…  In so many areas have I done this to my ultimate demise.

I recognize it now more then ever before in myself, on the rare occassion I have that other voice pop into my head; but mostly I see it in others.  I see it around them now and it’s a pain that goes too deep to talk about here.  We hurt ourselves so deeply by playing this in our head.

So I learned to love myself forward.  To truly embrace the journey and do it for the pure love and joy of my family.  Ultimately they are the ones I have been doing all of this for, but I never expressed that.  The need to prove others wrong was greater in me then anything else and that is what trumped all I did in my life and would consistently sabatage me.

I am learning to get out of my own way and the world is opening up more every day.  When I switched that mind set more things started to shift for me.  And at this point is when Dale and I went to NWA with Peak Potentials.

Our design in going was not to get into another opportunity, my thought in going was to really open my eyes to the possibility of what was out there and to the potential.  I was new to the idea of passive income, I knew I needed to learn more, and what better way to start then by seeing what was available.

Since we signed up for Quantum Leap with Peak Potentials we got everyone’s email address at the reception after the event.  Through that I started an email list and a mastermind group.  We had the first event at our house on the 9th of January and I will share next week how we went to the next level of manifestation in our lives.

This living into the law of attraction has been an amazing thing.  More next week about taking it to the next level.

To our journey,

Val

Releasing Fear – Part I

The big ‘F’ word. Fear. It’s a nasty little four letter word that for most of us stands in the way of living the life of our dreams and we are stuck in a life of mediocrity and struggle. Some where in our history we got stuck on the idea that struggle is the human purpose. Some where we began to think that the reason we are here, the foundation for why we were put on this Earth was to be put through test after test after test to ensure we were strong enough to make it and then and ONLY then would we be able to move forward and stop struggling. For some this means going to heaven, for others its enlightenment.

But is it really a belief system that supports us or something we should have gotten rid of last week when we took out the trash? Let’s explore: I’ve learned through the years that there are several layers to a belief system that must be explored if we are going to see where the fear comes from. For some of us, it is right on the surface and can be easily found and removed through techniques that are discussed in many different forms. Some of them are NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and others through energy work and masters guiding you in the techniques. I have developed some that have work great for me and many others on my website, feel free to check them out at www.valsorter.com. For others, their beliefs are so buried it takes a little longer and slighly more work to get through.

I found out this first when I was trying to lose weight. I struggled and struggled with getting the weight off, then I asked for some help. I had an accountability partner or weigh in coach I would see a few times a week. This person would read my food diary and check my weight and ask some questions if it I was not progressing. This was all great on the outside, but they never touched the inner world of what was going on. I now know that without the inner world work, you will never maintain the outer world. I have found this to be true in all areas of life: relationships, businesses, health, wealth, etc.

During this realization I started working on the inner world that was causing my weight issues. See, when I started to really step back and look at what was happening, I really saw something quite amazing. Let me explain. When I would eat, there would be a point at the table where I would know I was done. All of you have experienced this before, I am sure. Now, most people I believe stop at this point or shortly after. You may not do it every time, but more times then not, you stop. I never did. That was the point for me in which the irrational fear and anxiety would happen. I couldn’t explain it, I wasn’t able to stop doing it and I didn’t have any idea where the emotion came from. So I started asking myself questions.

I searched for the right question to ask, then a 2 year old, in all their wisdom – shows up and gives me the question I had been searching for. The question that once I asked, all things started to change.

Next week I will share with you the question and what it did to change my life and my world as I walk you through my personal struggle with fear in the hopes that it will help you know that you are not alone, and that you too can break through your fear to live the life of your dreams.

my experience at MMI

Thank you for joining me once again as I share with you how we are living into the law of attraction.

Last week I shared with you what seeing Harv speak at the Pepsi Center in Denver did for me.  I knew I could learn more from him.

Dale and I spend the next several weeks in school, if you will, learning about what we should have learned to be successful somewhere along the line.  And then we get to MMI.  At MMI I learned more about my husband, how I felt about money, and more about myself then any other time in my life.  The people at Peak Potentials really know what they are doing, in my personal opinion.  I went there to learn and to become better in my life.  I went there to get out of the rut I have been living in and to finally grow myself enough to stop hurting my family by making poor money decisions.  I’d made a lot of money over the years, I was never really taught how to hold on to it.

At MMI I was taught a basic system to hold on to it.

And by MMI Dale had started to see how much education we really were missing and he was starting to shift.  Up until this point in our relationship Dale has been mostly content.  I’m the one that always wanted more, that always strived for more, that always knew I was here for something bigger and to make a big impact in helping people on this planet.  Dale was comfortable.  He hadn’t read the books I had and searched for the answer I had, he got there from a different path; I will be eternally grateful that we are on the same path now.  Our roads finally merged and we are free to live together on this journey, side by side on the road of life.

At MMI we were introduced to several packages that we desperately needed to start our journey.  We are talking base fundamentals that nobody teaches.  They are really helping people get in touch with why they are hear, get over the fear and conquer the inner deamons so you are truly free to help people and make this world a better place. It’s really the next step in the education after some introductory work that will be the foundation of what you do.  That’s why we recommend them so highly, one they have great programs and two, they compliment what we at VSI do in our experiential training division of the company.

I saw Doug Nelson on the platform and he was amazing.  I’d really learned to pay attention to not only what a presenter was saying, but how they were saying it and what they were doing.  By the time I had seen Doug speak I knew he was very similar to Harv in his techniques.  Then he shared with us what we would be learning at other courses the company had to offer and we went for it.

Train the Trainer alone fit perfectly into what I wanted to do with my life, not to mention the other classes on influence, our mind and how it works as well as business fundamentals and passive income.  I was new to this term, but I knew I wanted more of it and I had none of it currently.

And next week I will share with you the amazing miracles that begin to take place every day for us and what I learned at MMI that changed it all.  Till next time, light and love,

Val

See T Harv Eker Speak

Thank you for joining me once again as I share this journey with you.  I’ve agreed to write a series of blogs to answer the questions I am getting about our journey and what is going on.

In the hopes on explaining and also in preparation for our book – Living into the Law of Attraction by Val and Dale Sorter, I am writing to share what we are learning and have learned.  This week I promised to share about seeing T Harv Eker speak.

I mentioned how I had attracted change into my life in the last post.  How I knew there was something big out there for me to do and I knew it was education.  I was learning more and more how little education there was available that really truly helped people break through their limiting beliefs and really take life by the horns and live to their full potential.

Then arrives a Get Motivated event into our lives and it started a massive amount of change that I am sharing with you now.  There were several great speakers and influential people on the platform that day.  I had attented a Get Motivated event several years before and remember being very impressed by what was possible, but my life really didn’t change much… until this time.

This time I was ready, I was the right me, at the right time, with the right opportunity.  If you haven’t figured out that magic three yet, get to one of our classes at www.valsorter.com or contact us about an individual coaching program.  You’ve got to start the journey at some point, it might as well start with a free audio download.

T. Harv Eker moved the Pepsi Center and brought to it an energy I hadn’t seen in the Pepsi Center since attending a playoff hockey game.  Truly incredible and I felt great.  I knew what he was going to say and that made it all the more fun.  It was just a great feeling and I loved it.  I played at 100% and I bought his course.  It was a ridiculous deal and I had purchased a few others to kick start our learning that we deserpately needed.  At the prices they were offering, it would have been silly to walk away without at least checking it out.

So I put Dale through a series of classes that tested our brain retention and emotional capacity to grow and learn and fundamentally shift.  And then we arrive at MMI.  It was the last of our classes of the series from the Get Motivated seminar and the one that I will be forever grateful we didn’t miss the opportunity to purchase.

I’ll share more about that experience next week.  Don’t forget to get your free tickets to a Millionaire Mind Evening with reference code 724007 at www.millionairemind.com/evening. Until next week.
